What is the GPS positioning accuracy? Are there other positioning methods besides GPS?

ThinkRace’s smartwatches and other wearable products are designed with a strong emphasis on the diversity and accuracy of positioning functions. The accuracy of GPS positioning typically ranges from 3 to 10 meters, but this precision can be affected by various factors, including weather conditions, cloud cover, obstructions from surrounding buildings, and the design compatibility of the smartwatch’s antenna.

Since GPS signals can only provide positioning in open outdoor areas, GPS may not be available in indoor environments, tunnels, or underground settings. In these cases, our products can utilize Wi-Fi and mobile base station assistance for positioning. Wi-Fi positioning typically has an accuracy range of 20-50 meters, while base station positioning accuracy ranges from 100 to 1,000 meters. Although these two positioning methods have relatively lower accuracy, they can still provide location services in environments without GPS signals.

In addition to GPS positioning, ThinkRace’s smartwatches also support GLONASS and BeiDou satellite navigation systems to enhance positioning accuracy and reliability. The BeiDou system is China’s independently developed global satellite navigation system, capable of providing high-precision positioning services and demonstrating good compatibility with other systems like GPS. To support GLONASS and BeiDou positioning, our smartwatches are equipped with specially designed antennas to ensure optimal positioning services in various environments.

In selecting positioning methods, we take into account factors such as accuracy, cost, and power consumption to ensure that we can provide positioning solutions that meet customer needs in various application scenarios. Whether in open outdoor environments, dense urban areas, or indoor settings, ThinkRace’s wearable products can deliver stable and reliable positioning services.

What communication methods do ThinkRace products support? If 4G is not used and no SIM card is inserted, what other communication methods are available?

ThinkRace’s smartwatches support multiple communication methods. In addition to 4G network connectivity, if users choose not to use 4G or do not insert a SIM card, the smartwatch can communicate via Wi-Fi networks. In this case, the smartwatch can connect to the internet in areas with Wi-Fi coverage, enabling data transmission and communication functions without relying on a SIM card.

Additionally, ThinkRace’s smartwatches incorporate Bluetooth beacon technology to enable indoor positioning. This technology is particularly suitable for scenarios requiring precise indoor location tracking, such as smart elder care, smart construction sites, and mine management. By deploying Bluetooth BLE beacons, the smartwatches can receive signals from the beacons and use server software for multi-point triangulation, achieving indoor positioning accuracy of 1-5 meters or even higher.

For areas without 4G network coverage, the combination of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth beacon technology provides an effective communication and positioning solution. This enables ThinkRace’s smartwatches to perform exceptionally well not only in outdoor environments but also to deliver stable and reliable services indoors.

Is it possible to create a GPS tracker smaller than a coin that can last on standby for over a week or even a month?

At the current level of technology, manufacturing a GPS tracker smaller than a coin that can maintain standby for over a week or even a month is challenging. The primary limiting factor is battery technology. Both GPS and network connectivity are power-intensive functions, and the size and capacity of the battery directly affect the device’s operating time and standby duration. Achieving a GPS tracker smaller than a coin with standby capabilities exceeding a week or a month may require further breakthroughs in battery technology or energy harvesting techniques (such as powering through ambient energy). Currently, such products have not yet become widely available in the market.

What type of battery do the products primarily use, and can I replace the battery myself?

Most mobile communication products, including mainstream smartphones and smartwatches from brands like Apple and Samsung, use lithium batteries and are designed to be compact without offering options for user-replaceable batteries. ThinkRace follows this mainstream design approach and also does not provide an option for users to replace the batteries themselves.

Do wearable products support solar charging?

Currently, ThinkRace only utilizes solar charging technology in one large animal tracker. This is because the product is larger in size, and the animals are primarily outdoors, allowing the tracker to be exposed to sunlight for extended periods, effectively harnessing solar energy for charging. For other wearable products, due to their smaller size and the fact that they are mostly used indoors, the efficiency of converting solar energy into electrical energy is low, making it impractical to generate effective charging currents. Thus, adding solar charging functionality to these products is not very meaningful.

Can ThinkRace products achieve indoor or underground positioning?

ThinkRace’s products support GPS positioning; however, in indoor or underground environments where GPS signals are unavailable, we implement alternative solutions for location tracking. In the absence of 4G network connectivity or without using a SIM card, our devices can utilize Wi-Fi and mobile base stations for positioning. The accuracy of Wi-Fi positioning is approximately within the 20-50 meter range, while base station positioning accuracy ranges from 100 to 1,000 meters.

Additionally, we offer an indoor positioning solution based on Bluetooth beacons. By deploying Bluetooth BLE beacons indoors and combining them with the Bluetooth module in the smartwatches, we can achieve indoor positioning accuracy of 1-5 meters or even higher. This solution is suitable for various application scenarios, including smart construction sites, smart elder care, and mine management. It can also be integrated with our Traxbean GPS Tracking system to provide comprehensive location tracking and monitoring capabilities.

In summary, ThinkRace’s products primarily rely on GPS for outdoor positioning, while indoor or underground positioning is achieved through Wi-Fi, mobile base stations, and beacon technology for accurate location tracking.

What is the waterproof rating of ThinkRace products?

Most of ThinkRace’s wearable products have passed the IP67 waterproof standard. The IP67 standard means that the products are dust-tight and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for a short duration (typically up to 30 minutes) without damage. This level of protection meets everyday waterproof needs, such as washing hands or being caught in the rain, but it is not suitable for prolonged water activities like swimming or diving.

It is important to note that while IP67 provides a certain level of waterproof protection, the water resistance of the products may decrease over time due to usage and everyday wear. Therefore, it is recommended to regularly inspect and maintain the products to ensure their waterproof performance remains in good condition. Additionally, users should avoid using the devices under high water pressure or fast-flowing water, as well as in high-temperature and high-humidity environments for extended periods, such as during hot showers, in hot springs, or saunas.
